A high-speed air cushion machine is the heart of a modern packing station. Even advanced systems like the LockedAir® LA-E5P require correct setup to perform at their peak. Incorrect loading of the Air Cushion Film is the primary cause of air leakage, film jamming, and unnecessary downtime.
Follow this professional guide to ensure your system runs smoothly and delivers consistent protection for your products.
Before starting, ensure you have the correct Air Cushion Film specifications for your machine.
Compatibility Check: Verify the film width and core size match your machine’s spindle. Using incompatible film can lead to uneven tension and sealing failures.
Power On: Connect to a stable power source and switch on the device. Most LockedAir machines feature a rapid pre-heating phase to get you started quickly.
The direction of the roll is critical for a proper seal.
Orientation: Place the Air Cushion Film roll onto the unwind spindle. Ensure the air-entry channel (the perforated side) is facing toward the machine’s air nozzle.
Stability Check: Ensure the roll can rotate freely without excessive friction, which could strain the motor.
The threading process is where most errors occur. Follow the illustrated path on your machine’s chassis precisely.
The Guide Rods: Pull the leading edge of the Air Cushion Film and wind it around the top of the film guide bar, then pass it through the tension rollers . This ensures the film remains flat and taut as it enters the heating area.
Nozzle Insertion: Locate the air-entry channel on the film and attach it securely to the air inflation nozzle or air tube .
Feeding: Use the "Feed" button to pull the Air Cushion Film into the inlet port and through the sealing wheels until it reaches the outlet port .
Never start a full production run without a test.
Initial Run: Press the "Start" button and observe the first 2-3 meters of the inflated Air Cushion Film.
Quality Audit: Check for consistent inflation and a strong, clean seal. If the pillows are under-inflated or the seal is melting, adjust the air volume and temperature settings via the digital control panel.
